In a shelter, staff and volunteers work together to welcome animals in need. The mental states of the animals and human beings are profoundly connected, and the aggressive dogs or nervous cats are often hiding a painful past. This observational documentary tenderly recounts the commitment of a passionate team.。两对情侣——迈特（Leigh Whannell 饰）和尼娜（Mirrah Foulkes 饰）、杰克（Nathan Phillips 饰）和丽贝卡（Melanie Vallejo 饰）结伴来到澳大利亚的塔斯马尼亚岛。这里在18世纪到19世纪间，曾是大英帝国用来流放犯人的小岛，岛上条件恶劣，难以逃脱，除了一个名叫亚历山大•皮尔斯（Peter Docker 饰）的爱尔兰男人。 尼娜的姐姐曾来到这里寻找灭绝已久的塔斯马尼亚虎，但姐姐最后竟神秘死亡。8年后同样攻读生物学的尼娜来到此地，完成姐姐未竟的心愿，并试图解开姐姐死亡的谜团……。
